re: Wal-Mart Settling Ilegal Immigrant Case

Re: WAL-MART SETTLING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CASE

NEW YORK -- Today’s $11 million settlement by Wal-Mart to settle long-running allegations that the retailer giant shamefully exploited illegal immigrants to clean their stores is yet another example of why New York City is better off without them. New York is a city of immigrants, and we know that exploiting ANY group of workers is an attack on the living standards of all workers. Wal-Mart preys on those who are working to make a better life for themselves and their families. Today, millions of immigrants in New York City are playing by the rules, fighting for good jobs, access to health care and rights on the job. We owe it to them to keep predator employers like Wal-Mart out of our immigrant-built city.
